In the spirit of inclusion, celebrating the beauty of diversity and the uniqueness
of each and every child… Imua Family presents a new annual event series,
the “Festivals of the World.” Each year for our annual fundraising gala,
we will choose a unique theme that explores the traditions, cultures,
art, music and dance of places around the world.
The Bollywood Ball
Beginning in 2018, we brought you the Bollywood Ball. Guests experienced a journey to India for a magical night of Bollywood glamour and the sounds and sights of India. The Maharaja Cocktail Reception and Indian Market Fair was held on the Halona Kai Lawn overlooking the Pacific Ocean and featured authentic Indian dancers, henna tattooing and sari wraping before moving to the Monarchy Ballroom for the main event.
Dinner was authentic Indian style fare and featured Indian music and dance entertainment with headlining performances by Broadway artists Teal Wicks, Matt Doyle and local favorite Eric Gilliom.
Following the gala dinner was the Taj Mahalo After Party featuring Next Level Entertainment which kept guests dancing until 2am.
The Carnival de Venice
In 2019, we presented the Carnival de Venice and transported guests to the most famous of carnival parties, the Mascheranda Grand Ball. The party began with the Hearts & Dreams Cocktail Reception, which featured a Prosecco Wall, passed hor d’oeuvres and performances by the Hawaii Opera Theatre. The main event allowed guests to experience the wonders and delights a traditional Venetian evening of entertainment, elaborate costumes and a runway of hand selected costumed guests as we picked the Best Themed Mascaraed Costume for the Grand Prize.
Dinner featured a traditional Italian feast, delicious desserts and specialty drinks. In addition to contemporary Italian dance performances, the entertainment featured, performances by local Maui favorite, Shea Derrick, the Hawaii Opera Theatre’s Leslie Goldman, Blythe Kelsey and Eric Schank and was headlined by Tony-nominated Broadway artist, Denee’ Benton.
Following the gala dinner was Casanova’s the After Party of Lovers. Guest enjoyed dancing to the beats of Shea Derrick and Full Flavor, followed by Next Level Entertainment which kept the party going until 2am.
