Nationally, April is Autism Awareness Month and also brings attention to The Week of the Young Child.  Locally, Imua Family Services, the Maui based non-profit agency that has been helping island children since 1947, will also mark an important milestone in April.

On Saturday, April 8th, Imua Family Services will host its 70th Platinum Jubilee Anniversary at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa in Ka`anapali.  The event will take place in the newly renovated Monarchy Ballroom, one of a few venues large enough to support the incredible black tie ball.

Over the years, the annual gala fundraiser has marked the many accomplishments of Imua Family Services, Hawaii’s largest nonprofit focusing on children with developmental delays and special needs.  The annual celebration has showcased internationally renowned guest artists such as Shoshanna Bean, Megan Hilty and this year, Adrienne Warren.

Adrienne Warren was most recently seen in the Broadway production of Shuffle Along in dual roles as Gertrude Saunders and Florence Mills, for which she received a Tony nomination for Best Performance by a Features Actress in a Musical. She originated the role of Danielle in the Tony Nominated Bring it On the Musical on Broadway and was also seen at the Apollo Theater as Lorrell in Dreamgirls, followed by a national tour.

Other New York theatre credits include: The Wiz at Encores City Center.  She has toured and recorded with the multi-platinum selling Trans-Siberian Orchestra in which she received her first Platinum and Gold records. TV credits include Point of Honor, Orange is the New Black, Blue Bloods, Royal Pains, People in New Jersey, Irreversible, and Black Box.  Most recently Adrienne has been cast to play Tina Turner as a part of a creative team in London developing a new musical production about the life of the iconic American diva.

Imua Family Services’ annual gala has gained a reputation for being a start-to-finish entertainment-packed show giving audiences and supporters an incredible and memorable evening. “Every year we raise the bar, provide the unexpected, and promise to astonish and inspire our audience,” says Executive Director, Dean Wong.  The gala event includes a cocktail reception, fine dining, live music, nationally and locally recognized entertainers and an after party that keeps the celebration bumping until 2am.
