KAHULUI, MAUI, August 27, 2019 — Imua Family Services is proud to announce their newest program, the Kokua Outreach Program. Kokua Outreach is a program focused on facilitating health insurance enrollment for those who are uninsured or under insured.  The program has an emphasis on people from Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and Palau as a part of the Compacts of Free Association (COFA) agreement with the United States. Imua’s Outreach & Eligibility Specialists will provide education and navigation support to assist the State of Hawaii and Maui County to reach at risk communities to assist those who qualify apply for insurance.  The program will also focus on Maui County’s houseless, the LGBTQ community, farm and service workers and people newly released from correctional facilities; however the program is open to all residents of Maui County.

The goal of Kokua Outreach is to assist all individuals to access the health care that is available to them. In doing so, Imua Family Services may identify families and children who could benefit from other services provided by Imua and other partner agencies, who have been overlooked because they have not been part of the health care system in our community.

Imua Family Services’ new Outreach & Eligibility Specialist, Genevieve DeRago, will attend Health & Wellness events, such as the recent event on Lanai on August 22 for the 12th Annual Traveling Mini-Conference sponsored by Leadership in Disabilities & Achievement of Hawaii.

Imua Family Services welcomes any introductions or information on upcoming events that will help them reach residents of Maui, Lanai, and Molokai. The program has the potential to bring a brighter future to island families who are in need of healthcare.  For more information, please contact Imua Family Services at 808-244-7467.
