Born and raised in Virginia, Adrienne Warren began her singing career with the musical performance group, The Dream Engine and then with the
Trans-Siberian Orchestra. After graduating from Marymount Manhattan College in 2009, she was cast in the City Center Encores! Production of the classic musical, The Wiz.
She then joined the national touring company of Dreamgirls, the rags-to-riches story of an up-and-coming 1960s girl group from Chicago loosely based on the story of the Supremes and Motown Records.
In 2012, Adrienne made her Broadway debut in the musical Bring It On: The Musical, which was based on the film of the same name, and focuses on the competitive world of cheerleading and over-the-top team rivalries.
Her next role would have her playing dual roles in Shuffle Along, or the Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed. Shuffle Along, is a revival of a musical that originally debuted in 1921 and ran for over 500 performances, which was unusually long for the time. Shuffle Along’s catchy jazz music and energetic dancing took Broadway and New York by storm in 1921 and had the same effect when revived for the 2016 production. Warren’s performance gained her a Tony nomination for the Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance.
Adrienne has also appeared in both television and film, including the TV movie Irreversible and on the Netflix hit show, Orange is the New Black. She has also made appearances on the shows Blackbox and Blue Bloods.
At the end of 2016, Adrienne was cast to play Tina Turner in a workshop in London that is developing a musical to showcase the pop icon’s life.
2017 is looking to be another stellar year for Warren who will be headlining Imua Family Services’ 70th Anniversary Platinum Jubilee on April 8th at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa.
